'Like hitting your head against a wall'
An exasperated resident says motorists are constantly smashing into lampposts on his street because the council will not paint them a brighter colour.
And Antonio D' Etorre, of Kingsmeade Drive, Northolt, says the Town Hall is throwing money down the drain repairing the posts every week.
The 50-year-old said: "They get hit practically every day by people turning round.
"All we need is a couple of white stripes on them. I telephoned the council and they can't do that because Ealing has black lampposts. It's like hitting your head against a brick wall.
"I have to constantly phone the council to get them to straighten them. It's such a waste of resources as I'm sure these people who are running around to straighten them have to be paid."
The electrician who has lived in the cul-de-sac for 25 years says the lights were never hit before the cream posts were changed for black ones in 2003.
He added: "I stuck some white tape on the one outside my property a month ago because I was fed up. Since then it hasn't been hit once.
The council were unavailable for comment about Mr D'Etorre's complaints.
