Uncollected Bank Deposits
MORE than £50,000 in uncollected bank deposits has been found to belong to account holders in Greenford.
Another £40,000 is still to be picked up by customers from Southall who have accounts at Halifax which have lain dormant for 15 years.
A further £19,000 in deposits made by people in West Drayton and £9,000 from those in Northolt were picked up by the bank in a new campaign to reunite customers with their cash.
Contact with account holders has been lost as addresses may now be incorrect.
The Government may begin collecting unclaimed money in late 2009 to use for worthwhile causes, but customers will be able to claim their cash back.
Halifax head of savings Tony Wilcox said: "We would urge customers to come forward and check if they have dormant money waiting to be claimed."
