Perivale eatery may lose licence
A restaurant will fight for its right to serve booze and lay on entertainment next week after it was shut down by police for holding loud parties after licensing hours.
Officers closed down Al-Afendi in Central Parade, Perivale, on September 18, after noting a raft of loud gatherings held after closing time.
The first complaint, on January 12, was logged before the venue was even granted a licence.
The licence, approved in March, allows the restaurant to sell alcohol seven days a week until midnight. But police and council officers have witnessed the activities carrying on after that time.
They have recorded 25 breaches between January and September, at times the music was so loud that the glass in the windows shook.
Police also say the CCTV does not work to a satisfactory standard.
The management claim the activities were allowed because they were private parties but this has not washed with police.
Licensing sergeant Nigel Charlton, of Ealing Police, said: "These premises have continually operated without the confines and conditions of their licence.
"Repeated requests and warnings to desist have been totally ignored.
"I feel the only course left open to me is to review the premises licence and ask that the licence be revoked."
The hearing will be held at Ealing Town Hall on Monday (17).
