Work can start on new Enterprise Lodge next year
Work can start on a £2 million state-of-the-art building for people with learning disabilities early next year thanks to a Government loan.
Ealing Mencap launched its fund-raising campaign to rebuild the 1967 prefab, Enterprise Lodge in Stockdove Way, Perivale in 2005. The development will cost £1.5 million with £500,000 needed to manage the Lodge for the first five years and another £250,000 for specialist equipment.
So far £850,000 has been raised and thanks to a Government Future Builders Loan, where cash can be borrowed to bridge the gap, work is due to start next April.
The next major fund-raiser is a black tie dinner and dance at the Ramada Jarvis Hotel, Ealing Common on October 17 at 7pm. Guest celebrity is actor Phillip Jackson known as Chief Insp Japp in the Poirot series. MP Steve Pound will be conducting an auction with top prizes like a free holiday. Tickets are £50ph from Gill Bond on: 07958 982763.
