Christmas cheer for Northolt pensioners

Christmas came early for a group of pensioners who enjoyed a slap-up meal and a sing-a-long.

About 70 revellers enjoyed the festivities laid on by the Wood End Resident's Association on Friday (7).

The event at the Post Office Club, in Greenford Road, Harrow, was the culmination of activities run by WERA's social committee during the year.

A Singer led the crowd with classic songs from the 40s, 50s and 60s and prizes were won in a raffle.

The afternoon was attended by Ealing North MP Steve Pound with his wife Maggie as well as North Greenford councillors Shahbaz Ahmed and Patricia Walker.

WERA chairman Dave Dwyer said: "There are a lot of senior citizens in our area and many find it difficult to get about. We want to help them keep active and bring them together. Seeing everyone's face on Saturday it was all worthwhile."

We'd like to hear from you.
