Countdown to Greenford Carnival 2011
THE COUNTDOWN to this year's Greenford Carnival has begun with only three days to go before the party kicks off.
Families can enjoy music from two live stages, a funfair, children's games and a sports arena, at Ravenor Park, in Oldfield Lane South, from noon to 7pm this Saturday (2).
With a chilled mix of soul, reggae and hip hop taking to the main stage and blues, indie and global acts on the acoustic stage, there will be something for everyone.
A funfair will entertain the children, as well as Punch & Judy shows, carnival mask making and a trampoling. And Greenford Community Carnival Association will host the sports arena for the first time.
There will be demonstrations from Greenford Tennis Club's young hopefuls Demetri Smith and Kenichiro Oishi, football with Brentford FC, an assault course with Greenford police cadets, as well as Tai Chi and Zumba dancing.
The voluntary group hopes to take over the full running of the summer fair from the council in the near future. Acting chairman Jim Wong said: "We had a few last minute changes but it's really going well and we're hoping to have a really successful year."
Tickets are £2 on the door, children under 12 go free.
